So many times this year the Cubs have faced a starting pitcher who was struggling only to swing early in the count and make easy outs. Well, last night that changed! Derrek Lee continues his dominance in June and the Fuld & Fox show continue to dazzle. Could Fuld & Fox be this year's Theriot & Fontenot dynamic duo? Let's hope Lou has the balls to keep them both constantly in the lineup.

Derrek Lee
It is sad that the Cubs have arrived at the point where they have no left-handed hitting batters that are of consequence. With the freefall of Fukudome, the possible retirement of Jim Edmonds, and the uncertainty of Pie and Ward, it's rather disappointing that Derrek Lee may be the victim of this mess. I've always been a Lee fan (I guess I've always been a sucker for Cubs first basemen who hit and field well) as he has truly been the anchor of the infield for past five seasons. I understand the need to trade him to make room for a Texiera type, but I would hate for the Cubs to trade Lee for a starting pitcher (as Sullivan suggests), not get the Texiera type, and then be stuck with having to sign a mediocre player or some dumb platoon (DeRosa and Ward) system. Listen in on the full details as Boers & Bernstein on 670 THE SCORE react to Paul Sullivan's article in the Chicago Tribune about Jim Hendry's pursuit of left-handed hitting.
