During yesteryday's game, Bud Selig told Len & Bob that he is "monitoring the economic situation very closely." Wish he would have done the same with the steroid situation 10 years ago. Selig claims that "everything was done" to curb the steroid problem and his chief evidence is the nine year old minor league program that cut steroid use from 9% to a 1/2% -- yeah, who can forget the huge minor league steroid problem in 1999? When asked about the impact of steroids on baseball's cherished records and the Hall of Fame, Selig quickly countered that drugs have always been a part of baseball through the ages!?!? He actually said that starting with the 1930's on through the 1980's to today, drugs have always had a presence and HE ALONE should be praised for being the first commissioner to impose a drug test. Once again, this interview renews the call for a truly unbiased baseball commissioner.
